RULES FOR SUBMITTING WORKS

The deadline for the submission of works for the WATERPIECES 2009 audiovisual festival competition is July 31. The competition jury will select a final group of ten works from those submitted which will then be exhibited from August 25 until September 13 in a dedicated exhibition on the “Betanovuss” floating gallery and “Noass”, AB dambis 2, Riga, as well as being subsequently distributed in the 2009 competition DVD showreel.

GRAND PRIX – a bronze figurine “Udensgabals/Waterpiece” and 1500 LVL for a new art work profited by AB.LV.
With agreement of the authors, the selected works will be distributed to other international festivals.

Annika Räim – Manager of contemporary art collection of  KUMU Art museum of Estonia;
Irma Stanaityte – Artist, Video Lecturer at Vilnius Academy of Art;
Kaspars Groševs – Artist, Video Lecturer at Janis Rozentals Art Highschool.

Audiovisual works created in the Baltic States are eligible for the competition  (installations, video art works, experimental films, animation, documentary films), as well as works created by artists originally from one of the Baltic States, but now resident elsewhere. Artists may also submit several works, but each work must be accompanied by a separately filled in form.  Artwork submission forms can be downloaded here.

Submitted works must have been created during the past three years (no earlier than 2007), be subtitled in English or have a dialogue translation attached (name, author, work’s year of creation, list of music used). Installations must be accompanies by a technical description required for the assembly of the work. Works may be submitted on: CD-ROM, DVD-ROM and prepared in the following file formats: .avi, .DVavi, .mov, .mpg2, PAL or Video DVD.  2 high resolution images must also be attached (still frames from a film or photo-documentary installation).

Works must be submitted by July 31.
