NOASS Artist in Residence program welcomes Austrian sound artist Hanns Holger Rutz

In April and May NOASS Artist in Residence program welcomes Austrian sound artist Hanns Holger Rutz. Artists solo exhibition, made within residency in Riga, will take place at NOASS from May 16th- 28th.
Hanns Holger Rutz is a German composer, performer and as well as researcher at the intersection of sound art, computer music and electroacoustic music. He is the author of various computer programs for sound transformation and algorithmic electroacoustic composition as well. He’s studied computer music and audio engineering at the Technical University Berlin (2004 – 2009), he’s obtained a PhD in computer music and worked as assistant professor at the Studio for electroacoustic Music (SeaM) Weimar.
His compositions include tape music, works with video, as well as collaborative works with theatre and dance. His recent focus is on sound installation, electronic live improvisation and the development of novel algorithmic systems.
His work has been presented in international festivals, exhibitions and concerts, including Germany, Austria, Romania, Latvia, Denmark, United Kingdom, Spain, Slovenia, and Venezuela.
He currently lives in Graz and works at the Institute for Electronic Music and Acoustics (IEM).
Residency is organized in collaboration with, The Regional Government of Styria and Austrian Embassy in Latvia and Latvian Ministry of Culture.
