Art center NOASS opens its new season with a solo exhbition of Laimdota Malle

Art center NOASS starts its new season with an exhibition “How to Move the Giant” by Latvian artist Laimdota Malle on view from May 16thand July 13th, 2019.

Using drawings, fragments, footprints and sound artist creates four installations that reconstruct the earliest form of an inaccessible image, a phenomenon that cannot be captured.

Exhibition opening will take place on 15th of May, 2019 and will be accompanied with performances of freddie Murphy and Chiara Lee (IT), the dark music project Pamirt and ambient noise project Antireality.

The sound of the exhibition is created in collaboration with freddie Murphy and Chiara Lee, a long time members of avant garde modern psychedelic band Father Murphy.

Laimdota Malle holds a Master’s degree from the Manchester School of Art (Manchester Metropolitan University) and the Latvian Academy of Art’s painting department. Since 2007 the artist has participated in group exhibitions and projects in Latvia and abroad, including Tension. The Young in Latvian Painting at the exhibition hall Arsenals. In 2013 Laimdota Malle was selected for the DegreeArt.com “Signiture Art prize” finals. In 2018 the artist created an exposition for the exhibition Abi Krasti  at the Daugava Museum and presented her first solo exhibition Irt.

freddie Murphy and Chiara Lee have been the main members of the band Father Murphy for 15 years. With this name, they have released a series of concept albums and EPs based around the idea of expressing the sound of the Catholic sense of guilt. They have toured Europe, North America, Australia and Russia and played festivals such as Le Guess Who, Roadburn Festival, Dark Mofo, Raw Power Festival, Liverpool International Festival Of Psychedelia, Treefort Music Fest in the USA and many more. The project has since been concluded.
They’ve been working on the music for numerous Luca Dipierro ‘s animated short films.Tracks of theirs were selected as part of the soundtracks for directors Alessandro Aronadio’s and Davide Maldi ’s debut feature films.
Recently freddie and Chiara wrote and performed music for the Italian author Francesco Targhetta readings of his two books Perciò veniamo bene nelle fotografie and Le vite potenziali.
They are currently working on the original soundtrack for Luca Dipierro’s first feature film titled The Cadence.
